What is Geofabric? Commonly known as geotextiles, geofabric is a material made of synthetic fibers for landscaping purposes. Geofabric can be used to separate, filter, reinforce, drain or protect when used in conjunction with soil. It has a high resistance to biodegradation which allows for effective use in and underneath soil and gardens.
What is Geofabric Used For? Geofabric has many applications in landscaping. It can be used to prevent two soil layers from mixing. This is effective as the material of the geofabric allows for efficient drainage while still assisting in water retention.
Geotextiles can be used to prevent erosion as on water and small particles can penetrate the material. Geofabric also has applications in driveway laying. When laid before asphalt, geofabric provides a moisture barrier to extend the life of the asphalt and reduce cracking. It can be also used when overlaying existing asphalt with new asphalt. The geofabric acts as a stress absorber to prevent cracking.
